Trapster - Cellphone Social Network Lets Motorists Warn Each Other Of Speed Traps

This one has been talked about a lot around the web, but in case you’re a heavy-footed motorist and haven’t heard of it yet, check out Trapster. It’s a US based social network where you can notify other motorists on the service via cellphone when you spot a speed trap.

The Trapster service, which bills itself as a speed-trap sharing system, is easy to use. When you’re driving near a radar trap, you simply hit “#1″ on your phone. This will then alert Trapster and will save the GPS location to alert other motorists who use the same route.

Cool concept and judging by some of the rave reviews in the media, it’s been working for some people. However, in area’s where cellphone use while driving is frowned upon by the police, I’d be thinking twice about grabbing my cell to dial a number if there were cops around.
