This is a positive mark for data portability. As you know, I’m moving away from Twitter and onto Friendfeed. Problem with a move like this is connecting up with people on the new service. Looking for all 280+ of my twitter friends on Friendfeed would be time consuming, monotonous work. But there’s a much easier way.
Fellow Canuck, Eric, over at InternetDuctTape has cobbled together a cool little PC program called Twitter 2 Friend Feed Importer. I just ran it and it worked like a charm. Took me all of 10 minutes to import all my Twitter friends (who are also on Friendfeed) into my Friendfeed account and automatically friend them over there. Of course, it would take much longer for the program to do it’s thing if you had 20,000+ Twitter friends like Jason Calacanis or Scoble, but that’s all the more reason to use some automation for the task.
The program is a little rough with no GUI (as of this writing) but Eric says he’s working on that for the next version. It’s still easy enough to use, though and the main thing is that it works. It doesn’t have to be pretty.
Props, Eric! Thanks for saving me a lotta work.

Thanx Paul for showing the twitter to ff script. Hopefully more people will realize how great Friend Feed is and still can be…
